I've come to this conclusion- I'm not going to stick to 90% of the new year's resolutions most people come up with. I've put my mind to coming up with something worthwhile, and I've decided that there's really just one I can do: I plan on updating every week this year. Something, every Sunday. It might not always be good, but there will be something. A poem, a bit of prose, a short story, whatever. Over the summer I might even try to learn how to draw, so if that happens I'll start posting that sort of thing as well.

So, classes have started back up. And by that, I mean they started a month ago. One of my classes is an Intro to Creative Writing course, so I'll be fixing up and posting anything that I think is worthwhile. I need to have a few pieces for a final portfolio, so if anything catches your eye make sure you tell me about it.

Summer is finally here for me, so no more getting up for class every morning. I hope to do some more writing now that I've got more time on my hands. I'm also hoping to hit some more concerts. I went and saw Hellogoodbye last saturday, and I just got home from seeing OK Go and Bloodcat Love about an hour ago. Each concert was awesome in its own way - the lead singer from Hellogoodbye was drunk off his ass, but still funny. OK Go was in a whole different class, though. They were phenomenal live, even better than they are on recordings. They really got the audience involved in the show.

Keep an eye out for Bloodcat Love. They were pretty good, and I think that touring with OK Go is going to do wonders for them. If you like crazy, punkish rock, definitely check them out.

I'm applying for employment at the Grand Valley State University writing center. If hired, I'd be on staff as a writing consultant. Basically, people would bring drafts of their paper into me, I'd read it and give them feedback, and hopefully they'd get a better grade.

Is it likely that I'll get hired? Absolutely not. My GPA is lower than they'd like and there's going to be a lot of applicants.

But it would be nice work, it would pay better than my current job, and it would be on campus. All of these are very appealing to me. Wish me luck!

I have some goals, and the only way I can get myself to actually better myself is if I feel incredible peer pressure. So here it is, Internet.

I Want To:

-Lose 50 pounds (or at least turn that much weight into muscle).
-Work on some cardio stuff, and build my endurance.
-Fix my damn sword.
-Two words: Big. Shield.

Why the lofty goals?

The nerdiest of purposes. Dag season is on its way, and this year I'm not going to be the guy who holds the unit back. And also, I want to go to Ragnarok this year.

How rare is it that a guy like me has to work his ass off (literally and metaphorically) to keep up with his nerdy friends?
